Big I Trusted Choice National Qualifier Underway

Round 1 is in the books at the 2017 Big I Trusted Choice National Championship Qualifier. Players persevered through some difficult wind conditions to post some great numbers thru Day 1.
In the Boys division, hometown kid, Connor Burke of Greeley takes the lead at Boomerang Links GC. Burke fired a personal best, three-under 69, to take a three stroke lead going into the final day. Burke holds a lead over three contenders. Jackson Solem of Longmont, Walker Franklin of Broomfield, and Riley Rottschafer of Centennial all shot even par 72 on the day. Rounding out our Top 5 and within 4 shots of the lead is Gabe Goodman, Cole Krantz, and Tyler Severin. The boys will play Round 2 at Highland Hills GC in Greeley, beginning tomorrow at 9 am. In the girl’s division, the competition is still wide open. At Highland Hills GC, Julia Baroth of Denver, Amelia Lee of Castle Rock, and Lauren Lehigh of Loveland are all tied for the Day 1 lead after four over par 76’s. Their closest challenger is Taylor Tucker, who’s seven over 79 leaves her just three strokes back. Rounding out the Top 5 is Aili Bundy (83).
