Two golfers from Silver Creek High School in Longmont won state titles Friday at the Big I Junior Classic in Greeley, with Jackson Solem repeating as boys champion and Erin Sargent claiming the girls crown.

Solem, the reigning boys 4A state high school champ, posted scores of 72-66 for a 5-under-par 138 total after rounds at Boomerang at Highland Hills. The future University of Denver golfer made six birdies and one bogey in Friday's final round.

Kyle Pearson of Highlands Ranch (67-76--143) finished second Friday, while Daniel Pearson of Longmont (68-76--144) was third.

In the girls competition, Sargent, the 2016 girls 4A state high school champion and a 2015 U.S. Amateur qualifier, prevailed by seven shots. She went 74-72 at Highland Hills and Boomerang to post a 3-over-par 146 total. Sargent will play college golf at the University of Wyoming beginning in the fall.

Jennifer Hankins of Thornton (80-73--153) ended up second, while Caroline Jordaan of Cherry Hills Village (80-75--155) was third.

In addition to serving as a state tournament, the event in Greeley was a qualifier for the Big I National Championship, which is set for Aug. 1-4 at Del Paso Country Club in Sacramento, Calif.

Earning spots in the national tournament were Solem and Kyle Pearson for the boys and Sargent and Hankins for the girls.
