It was a great day for golf at Aurora Hills Golf Course for the Junior Golf Alliance of Colorado 14-18 Series Event. Players battled through near record high temperatures of 95 degrees to post impressive scores. Mario Dino of Denver, CO finished with a career best of three-under-par 69 and finished with six birdies to earn first place in the Boys 14-15 Division and medalist for the day. Following in second place was Brandon Cohen of Lakewood, CO with a two-over-par74. Jack Larson of Arvada, CO finished in third place after a scorecard playoff at five-over-par 77.
In the Boys 16-18 division, Jake Francis of Watkins, CO clinched first place with a solid even-par 72. Ben McCormick of Broomfield, CO took second place, just two strokes behind after he posted a two-over-par 74. Finishing in third place was Shane Purkey of Divide, CO with a score of four-over-par 76.
The Girls Division featured close competition all day as the top-3 finishers were separated by just two strokes. Brooke Kramer of Aurora, CO started her round strong with even-par 36 on the front nine including an eagle on the par-5 eighth hole. Kramer came in first place with a four-over-par 76. Anju Ogi of Arvada, CO, who started off one-under through her first two holes, finished in second place with a score of five-over-par 77. Maxine Choi of Colorado Springs, CO came in third place with a score of six-over-par 78.
